The writing’s on the wall!

Well, in the words of the Captain (Beefheart not Sensible) that might just have been the best batch yet. To use the lingo of my late 80’s Manchester dwelling self – “I was proper buzzing when I got home“. Six sets of seven and a whole bunch of fives – including four newbies. Only one person didn’t get drawn from the tin and a couple were too late to be included in the draw – but all taken with good grace – it is also a listening club after all. It was difficult to pin down the exact reason it was so much fun – but confidence and collaboration were in the air and the music played was of course a central ingredient. We started with a stonking ska set and ended with a brilliantly eclectic set that ranged from Scandi prog adjacent psyche beats to chart topping pop – the latter not only making us smile but getting many of us back on our feet after the penultimate Northern soul set had us filling that stone slab talc fee dance floor (it’s a floor – and we danced on it).
